DAN
FLEEMAN
Dan’s
passion for cycling started at the age of 10 whereby mountain biking was his thing. It wasn’t until he
was 18 he made the switch over to the road. He always use to train on
the road and found the longer
and hillier nature of road racing suited him coupled with greater opportunities to travel worldwide with road
racing.
Dan’s
first major result was winning the British National Road Race Championships in 2004. This brought with
it a double achievement as an accident whilst out training less than 12 months prior left him with two broken knee
caps and the doctors indicating he would never walk again. Needless to
say this was all the motivation Dan needed to get back on the bike.
The
following 2 years Dan moved to France and rode as an amateur whereby he took wins in the Prix de la St Amour and
the Tour de Beaujolais. This then provided him with the opportunity
to ride for
DFL-Cyclingnews in Belgium. During the season of 2007 Dan achieved
top 10 places in the Tour of Britain and the mountainous Tour of Qinghai Lake.
The 2008
racing season Dan spent with An Post/M.Donnelly/Sean Kelly Racing Team whereby his most notable win during this
time was coming first overall in the Tour of the Pyrenees. Also
during this time Dan obtained good results by overall coming 13th in the Tour of Ireland and
7th in the Tour of Britain.
The
opportunity then was offered to join the Cervelo Test Team with Dan’s opening race the historical
Paris-Nice, one of the hardest opening races of the season. During
his time on the team he obtained a superb
16th in the GP di Lugano and 6th in the Tour of Romandy Team Time Trial. Unfortunately the second part of his
season was affected by a wrist break in May.
In 2010
Dan signed his 2 year contract with the recently resurrected British Team Raleigh. During his
time at Raleigh Dan has shown impressive form which has included winning the National Hill Climb Championships,
7th in the National Championships, 7th in the Tour of the Pyrenees and 7th in the
Rutland Melton Classic
(UCI 1.2). This season Dan obtained a great result in Canada in the
Tour de Beauce, with 2 hours notice
that he would be riding the stage race in Canada, therefore training leading up to the race was not specific to a
stage race, he came 8th overall.
Just
under a year ago, along with another, Dan opened a bike shop within his local area. His entrepreneurial
mind was working even back then. Forme Coaching is the next step for
Dan helping people to achieve
their goals through quality coaching using statistics and figures to make improvements in power
training. Dan wants to share his experience and mistakes to help
others train effectively. To date he has been involved in coaching
young riders, some of which are now in France racing.
STEPHEN GALLAGHER
Stephen
studied a BTEC in Sports Science before securing the opportunity to live and race in France when
he was 18 years old. Not knowing the language Stephen use to go out
training with a French/English
dictionary on the handlebars so he could learn the language to live, train and race in France. Since then
he can speak fluent French, Italian and Flemish. Clearly his
potential was evident at such a young
age which wasn’t surprising given his performance in the Worlds and Irish Championships since starting to
race at 7 years old competitively.
Stephen
dedicated the next 10 years of his life to racing which included time as a pro rider from 2003
with Team Endura Sport, he then went on in subsequent years to ride for Flanders-Afin.com, Flanders,
Giant Asia, Murphy & Gunn, An Post/Sean Kelly Racing Team right up to recent day of Sigma Sport
Specialized
and Cycle Premier Metalek. Stephen has raced in Europe, Australia and
South America securing wins and
top three results during this time. His most notable win in his
cycling career to date was the 7 day stage race
FBD Ras in 2008 whilst riding for the An Post/Sean Kelly Racing Team.
Whilst
some may look at cycling and see the glamour portrayed by teams in the Tour de France, the sport in
itself is the hardest in the world. Time away from family and loved
ones for months on end, moving daily from
one hotel to another, travelling constantly at times, watching your nutrition and diet every day, race and
training preparation and dedication and commitment to training and racing...all this for one
sport. Stephen both from his results and years riding as a
pro rider can demonstrate dedication to the sport,
his discipline to achieve the results to date and sheer passion for giving the sport he loves
110%.
Stephen
has built up a global network of connections over his years of racing both on and off the bike. He has a natural ability and entrepreneurial flair when connecting people
and ideas together. To this day
he still would be good friends with many of the pro riders therefore receiving all the latest information
as to what is happen at the pro rider level of the sport.
With
Forme Coaching Stephen wants to use all the connections, knowledge and craft he has built up over
the years at the pro rider level. Stephen has been coaching for the
last 2 years which has seen significant
results in his local area whereby over a 2 year period schoolboys he was coaching received over 30 medals
in Irish Championships. Stephen currently utilises the Training Peaks
software for the 16 clients he
works with. Still in love with the sport he sees this as a new
chapter in his life within cycling that has
been his life and will be his future.
