BCC riders 1st - 2nd and 5th at Carn Wheelers
Inter-Club League Race

BCC 1st, 2nd and 5th at Carn Wheelers.
Adrian Madden and Aaron Dickie along with club mates Ollie Bateson, Martin Carroll and Stevie McAllister set off on
Thursday evening to Moneymore to take on riders from Carn Wheelers, Ballymena Road Club, Bann Wheelers and Bann
Valley in the Inter club league series held over 5 rounds at each clubs choosing.

After suffering a heavy defeat at the Bann
Wheelers round with best BCC finisher Adrian Madden making it into 11th just outside the points. Ballymoney
Cycling Club do what they do best, they gather together, they prepare and plan and they go out to face the
challenge at hand. BCC were missing two top riders in Garreth McBride and Wayne Stevens, both were involved in a
last gasp pile up in another event on Tuesday with Garreth dislocating his collar bone and Wayne breaking his
frame. The dice was cast and the five BCC riders set about doing what it took to get as many riders into the top
10 placings as possible. Aaron Dickie and Martin Carroll in the first group, with Ollie Bateson and Adrian
Madden in the 2nd group with Steven McAllister in the scratch last bunch.
5 laps of the 7 mile circuit saw the front two groups caught with two to go, McAllister launched attack after
attack trying to get the groups split but the experienced head of Hugh Evans and his hard riding saw the Ballymoney
rider reeled in each time. Four riders eventually got away with one and half laps to go, this group included
McAllister, Tony McPeake Bann Valley, Cathal Doyle Carn Wheelers and Russell Callaghan Bann Wheelers. Despite their
efforts the bunch was letting no one away and with 5 to go the bunch came together and it was Ballymoney at the
front. Last half mile and fast finisher Steven McAllister and new to cycling Adrian Madden jumped clear with
McAllister getting the win with Madden 2nd, a staggering effort was put in by Aaron Dickie and he was rewarded with
5th place. A great success for BCC with 3 riders in the top ten, and going into the final round at Bann Valley it
looks like a fantastic event. Ballymoney hope to have riders Jason Taggart, Niall O'Hagan, Jerome McKendry, Philip
McKeown, Neville Patton, Ryan Fenton, Wayne Stevens and hopefully back from injury Garreth McBride along with the
five at Carn Wheelers available for this one.
